Work then PARTY! can you?

HoOrAy!  Our new play structure will be installed on Monday September 16th.

WHEELBARROW - do you have one? Can you lend it?  Needed 1:00 Sunday 15th and 7:00pm Monday 16th by our hard-shoveling neighbor volunteers.

Needed:  10 or more volunteers to rake / shovel bark out of the empty square space on Sunday September 15th 1:00pm and another 10 or more volunteers to rake bark back in around the new structure on Monday Sep 16th 7:00pm.  They will save our neighborhood several hundred dollars in labor costs.
Please email vicepresident@illaheehoa.com if you can volunteer with a rake or shovel or lend your  WHEELBARROW either day.

Thank you, Mark Meyer of Lot 37!  Who has volunteered to replace the missing boards on our park benches!!  Whew! We'll be able to sit!

THEN...

Saturday the 21st or Sunday the 22nd let's hold a neighborhood potluck lunch and celebration!

Help select the day & time of the party by filling in this poll with your family's availability, please include your lot number or name:  http://sdrv.ms/16d1877
Can you see it?  Fingerfoods of any kind, celebration of the new "Sierra Climber", bike races for the kids, a chalk art contest on the sidewalk, perhaps some 3 on 3 basketball on the 1/2-court?  Are you catching the vision?

Garage sale - over for this year:
Saturday August 17th, we held our annual neighborhood garage sale!

A big THANK YOU to Lori Stark of Lot 8 for volunteering to organize this Illahee event!  Lori advertised in the local papers and signed the local area.  She calls our 2013 sale a "mild success" with 9-10 homes participating, probably due to the late summer date coinciding with summer vacations.  Perhaps next year we will try for an earlier date, so you can start that pile of garage sale items growing again :)

My kids thought the sale was a SUPER success as they were thrilled to find treasures for quarters just down our block.  Our neighbors, the Wright family of lot 77, were equally thrilled to offload all said treasures to my family and their kids' pockets were jingling when the Pound family left!

At last!

Playground Update!
Expect installation of our green Sierra Climber on Monday SEPTEMBER 16th.  We expect the Climber to be tamper resistant with ability to hold up against big kid play.  The 2 existing structures will be repaired.  We hope to gather a community work party to prepare the lot for the “Climber" on the weekend of September 14-15, and to repair the aging park benches.  Look for work party plans, and involve our teenagers - our teens could do a spectacular job, and take ownership of and pride in the playground project.

Got dead plants?

Plantscapes will remove sick, dying and dead plants in your front yard - this service is included in your HOA dues - simply tie a ribbon around a branch of a bush you would like removed (under 10 feet tall) and email Hedley at Plantscapes (hmenzies@plantscapes.com) with your Illahee lot # and location of ribboned bushes to be removed.  Just ask Miss Anna Pietrusinska in lot 76 - her 8 foot monsters are GONE and her experience was smmooooooth!

Neighborhood vandalism

Vandalism in our community has been a problem.  The neighborhood park has been vandalized and is currently off limits.  The play structure has broken boards and the slide has been disconnected from the structure (screws removed).  Some neighbors have reported the vandalism is caused by some teenage kids living in the neighborhood.

Please be engaged and watch for this behavior to help stop the vandalism.  Please talk to your kids.  Teenagers should not be standing on the swings and playing on the play structure.  It is meant for children.

if you see any suspicious behavior please report it to the HOA board so we can address it.

thank you
